Education

I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Michigan in 1992 and completed a general practice residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center in 1993. I also attended U of M for my specialty education, completing my master’s degree in orthodontics in 1996. I started my orthodontic practice in 1996 and begin each day with my personal mission statement to welcome staff and patients into my office with honesty, commitment, and a “do what it takes” attitude every day.
I believe that continuing to invest in the education of myself and my team has helped us serve our patient families in a very special way. I take over 40 hours of continuing education every year to stay on top of the advances in my profession, including technology and research. I also work as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. I love being able to share my knowledge and teach the orthodontists of the future!

Outside the Office
I have lived all my life in the surrounding Grand Rapids area and am pleased to raise my family here and to provide beautiful, healthy smiles in the area where I grew up. When I am not creating smiles, I enjoy snow skiing, biking, wakeboarding, and wave surfing. I also love traveling with my wife (Dr. Beth) and our four children: Madison, Daniel, Aiden, and Caroline.

I believe in constantly striving to get better, which is why I continue to learn and grow by taking continuing education courses and attending local area study clubs. Furthermore, I am passionate about creating a unique environment where patients feel comfortable and empowered to get the smile they dream of. My hope is that every patient leaves our office feeling more confident than when they walked in, and they enjoy the process as much as the results!
